INA, Ill. (June 13, 2018) - Rend Lake College has nominated 19 student athletes and four teams for their high academic achievement in the 2017-18 year. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) will honor the students in upcoming weeks.

Eight different Warrior teams had at least one athlete nominated for their prowess in the classroom. Student athletes earning a GPA (grade point average) of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale are nominated for the NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence, the highest award available. Athletes earning between a 3.80 and 3.99 GPA are nominated for the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement. The last award is for students earning GPAs between 3.60 and 3.79: the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement.

 Academic team nominations were submitted for Women's Softball with a team GPA of 3.11, Men's Golf with a 3.18, Women's Golf with a 3.48 and Women's Tennis with a 3.49.
