RLC Sports Hall of Fame welcomes 2019 inductees

Pasca InducationPasca Cheruiyot Myers was inducted in the Rend Lake College Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend. A multiple All-American and a NJCAA Team Champion, Cheruiyot is one of the most prolific runners in RLC history. In three semesters with the Warriors, she tallied six national titles and 10 All-American distinctions, setting seven team distance records in the process.

Darin Lee InductionDarin Lee, a former Warrior point guard during the 84-85 and 85-86 seasons was placed in the RLC 2019 Hall of Fame class for what he's done since leaving Ina. With 632 wins, Lee ranks 35th all-time and 12th among active Illinois high school coaches. Lee has had 20 teams win 20 or more games in a season. He was nominated to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011, joining his father David and making the winningest father-son combo in Illinois high school basketball coaching history.

2012 13 Basketball Team InductionThe 2012-13 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Champion Rend Lake College Men's Basketball Team was inducted into the RLC Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend. Representing the team at the ceremony was, from left, Jesse Smith, Dennis Froemling, Bronson Verhines and Dawson Verhines. The 2012-13 Warriors finished the season with a 30-3 mark, averaging 80.6 ppg. The team faced Moraine Valley in the final, winning 87-69. The Warriors also were champions of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, a league comprised of eight D-I rivals.

Boaz Lalang was also nominated to the 2019 Hall of Fame Class. Unfortunately, Lalang was unable to attend the ceremony. Lalang ran for Rend Lake College during the 2007-08 season. While Lalang dominated the competition while racing as a Warrior, he is best known for competing in the 2008 China Olympics, representing his native Kenya in the games in the 800M.
