Schedules & Calendars
We begin with a visit to the Anheuser Estate, ancestral home of Fred and Mabel Ruth Anheuser. Fred’s great grandfather, Eberhard Anheuser, was the founder of E. Anheuser Brewing Company, the brewery that later became known as Anheuser Busch, producer of the world famous Budweiser Beer.
After the Anheuser Estate tour, we will enjoy lunch at The Blue Owl restaurant. The Blue Owl has been featured on the food channel four times. Mary’s mile high levee pie was chosen as one of Oprah’s favorite things for her Christmas list a few years back. No one is disappointed with the food and especially not the dessert. You may even want to take home some of their famous apple butter.
We will step back in time with a visit to Mastodon State Historic Site after lunch. The park contains an important archaeological and paleontological site – the Kimmswick Bone Bed. Here, scientists discovered the first solid evidence of the coexistence of humans and the American mastodon in eastern North America. Enjoy a brief film highlighting the park, a private ranger talk, and time to explore the museum which includes an impressive mastodon skeleton .
