Director--Agronomy Innovation Center & Land Lab Supervisor

   Rend Lake College seeks a full-time Director--Agronomy Innovation Center & Land Lab Supervisor. Duties for the position include the following:

  • Assist in fostering partnerships with educators, agencies, service organizations, and businesses and industry in support of the land lab and the Agronomy Innovation Center (AIC).
  • Develop and coordinate annual land lab operational plans.
  • Continually evaluate and develop existing partnerships relative to the Agriculture industry.
  •  Coordinate land lab activities with other college departments.
  • Maintain field records and reports.
  • Perform and coordinate all activities which relate to the land lab, including but not limited to, company contacts, field day activities, 4-H facility usage, Ewing Field liaison, planning, planting, harvesting and marketing of all crops, maintenance of machinery.
  • Serve as the liaison between student, faculty, staff, agricultural related agencies and employers to effectively coordinate land usage.
  • Maintain and develop appropriate communication for workforce upskilling as well as entry level positions in the Ag Industry.
  • Manage and facilitate the AIC’s activities as appropriate with industry partners while expanding the options for student opportunities for potential employment.
  • Maintain appropriate leases to facilitate access to the most current technologies as possible for students and workforce development.
  • Schedule and coordinate industry trainings and workshops within the AIC and Land Lab. Schedule and coordinate outreach events for students and industry partners highlighting access to the AIC.
  • Recruit both students and industry partners with interest in the AIC and Land Lab and other functions.
  • Attend conferences and meetings relative to position.
  • Assist in organizing special events relative to the land lab
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Work experience in Agronomy preferred
  • Master's degree preferred in Ag or related field
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Experience or proven ability to work with industry partners.
SALARY & BENEFITS
  • $60,000 to $70,000 annually, or commensurate with experience
  • Full benefits which includes: health insurance with dental and vision; life insurance and retirement
