TYPE A - Kristi Rapp, an Office Systems Technology Health Information Assistant major at Rend Lake College, typed 100 words per minute with no errors during the final week of class. Her instructor, Sarah Bilderbeck, said Rapp is the first student to reach this goal in the 10 years Bilderbeck has taught at Rend Lake. Bilderbeck said many students have typed 100 words per minute, but Rapp is the first to do it without a single error. Two years ago, Rapp was laid off from a job she held for nearly two decades. With help from the federal Workforce Investment Act, administered through Man-Tra-Con, Rapp went back to school to train for a new career. This month, she graduated from RLC with her associate degree as a health information assistant, along with three occupational certificates she completed in the Office Systems Technology program. Her husband is Curtis Rapp. She has three children - Levi, Lynsi and Lyle - and two grandchildren. Kristi said her kids are a big part of the decision to get a degree. Bilderbeck said Rapp is going to be a fantastic addition to the company she works for next.
