INA, Ill (September 9, 2024)— From dreams of cosmetology to a deep-rooted passion for early childhood education, Suchomski's inspiring journey showcases the profound impact of discovering one's true calling.

Sophomore Anna Suchomski

Prior to enrolling in the RLC Early Childhood Education program, Suchomski's dream was to be a cosmetologist. However, after graduating from Pinckneyville Community High School, she started working at Perry County Western Egyptian Head Start where she realized her love for working with children.

"Working with children, building strong connections and witnessing their developmental milestones brought me immense joy," says Suchomski. "It is the most rewarding job. My passion for children and desire to make so many positive differences in their lives inspires me."

Suchomski is set to graduate after the 2024 Fall semester with her associates degree, and she plans to continue to work in her current position at Mary's House Daycare in Centralia as a teacher's assistant. Her goal is to take on a lead teacher role, and to further her education at university.

"I am so very thankful for my experience at Rend Lake College," says Suchomski. She shares some advice for incoming student in the Early Childhood Education program, "Get to know every child individually, because each child is special and different. The best way to teach your students is by understanding them and their needs first."
