TRUDEE WYNN COUNTRY FINANCIAL IS PART OF THE GAME PLAN, SPONSORS BENTON COMMUNITY NIGHT AT WAUGH GYM

INA, Ill. (February 23, 2024) — Rend Lake College and the RLC Foundation hosted Benton Community Night Saturday in coordination with the RLC Basketball Alumni Games against Southwestern Illinois College. The official sponsor of Benton Community Night was Trudee Wynn Country Financial who generously donated $5,000 to The Game Plan at RLC.

Flanked by captains of the Benton Consolidated High School Cheerleading and Dance Teams, COUNTRY Financial Representative Trudee Wynn presents a $5,000 check to members of the Rend Lake College Foundation. Wynn sponsored the Benton Community Night at RLC’s Waugh Gym. Her gift will support a capital campaign called The Game Plan at RLC, aimed at renovating the athletics facilities on the Ina Campus. FROM LEFT, are; dance captains Sophie and Sydnie Lampley, RLCF Major Gift Officer Dawn Johnson, Wynn, RLCF Board Member Pat Kern and cheerleading captains Emma Webb and Brooke Wyant.

“Out of that $5,000 [RLCF] is giving back $500 to the high school for the Athletic Director to give back to the groups and clubs that attended,” said Dawn Johnson, RLCF Major Gift Officer.

“I’m a proud Benton Consolidated High School graduate,” said Wynn. “It is important we support vital gathering places like Waugh Gymnasium. These facilities bring our community together and allow us to support young people who are learning about life and good sportsmanship through basketball and other activities.”

“Our community nights have been a way to involve our local high schools throughout our district to be involved and be a part of our men and women’s basketball games,” added Dawn Johnson, Major Gift Officer, RLC Foundation. “We’re grateful for Trudee’s generosity along with the support of so many in our community.”

Community Nights are organized by the RLC Foundation, Community Outreach, Student Services, and the Athletic Department as a way to welcome high school students on RLC’s campus and feel the school spirit as they cheer on the Warriors at home games.

“[Community Nights] are a collective effort to showcase our community high schools, talk to high school students about what RLC has to offer, and fundraising The Game Plan,” said Cathy DeJarnette, RLC’s Executive Director of Administrative Services.

The next Community Night, celebrating Mt. Vernon, is scheduled for February 28, and is being sponsored by Crystal Clear Pool and Spas. The Lady Warriors (5 p.m.) and Warriors (7 p.m.) will host Olney Central. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Students who attend receive free tee shirts and popcorn.
