Bridge course offered for LPNs to enter RLC’s ADN Program

INA, Ill. (April 18, 2016) - A new bridge course is giving licensed practical nurses (LPNs) the chance to get back into the classroom to complete their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Rend Lake College’s new course - Introduction to Health Concepts II (NURS 1213) - begins Tuesday, May 24.

The course will meet from 5 - 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 24 through July 28 on the Ina campus. There will also be two Saturday courses from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. scheduled at a later time.

Betty Herbert, RLC Director of Nursing, said the students who pass the summer bridge course will enter into the second year of the ADN program in August and graduate in May of 2017.

Students interested in the course must have an active Illinois Practical Nursing license, have taken and passed Anatomy and Physiology (ZOO 1105 and 1106) in the last five years, and have taken and passed Rhetoric and Composition I (ENGL 1101).
