Early Childhood Education Program enrolling now for Fall

INA, Ill. (May 23, 2023) — Rend Lake College is pleased to announce that enrollment is open for the 2023-2024 school year in its Early Childhood Education program. This two-year program leads to an Associate in Applied Science degree, and graduates will be fully prepared to work in a variety of positions and settings within the field.

The ECE program at RLC is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in all aspects of early childhood development. Graduates of the program will possess the skills and knowledge necessary to work as Childcare Center Teachers, Child Care Center Directors, After-School Program Coordinators, Head Start Program Teachers, Public School Teacher Aides, and Family Child Care Providers.

This degree meets the requirements for Gateways to Opportunities Early Childhood Credential Level 4, further demonstrating the high level of preparation and expertise that graduates will have in the field.

The ECE program at RLC is led by experienced faculty members who are dedicated to providing students with quality education and hands-on training. Throughout the program, students will gain practical experience working in real-world settings, helping to prepare them for success in their future careers.

“We are excited to offer this outstanding program to students who are passionate about early childhood education,” said Heather Miller, ECE Program Coordinator. “Our graduates are highly sought-after in the field, and we are confident that our program will help them achieve their professional goals.”

In addition to the Associate in Applied Science Degree, RLC offers five different ECE credentials: the one-year Early Childhood Education Certificate (30 credit hours), Early Childhood Assistant Certificate (6 credit hours), Early Childhood Certificate Level Two (12 credit hours), Early Childhood Certificate Level Three (30 credit hours), and the Technical Assistant Credential (16 credit hours).

"All five of these valuable credentials are included when you earn the associate degree," Miller explained.
