Electric/Hybrid Automotive Program Coming to RLC

INA, Ill. (November 4, 2022) — The automotive technology landscape is quickly evolving, and Rend Lake College's automotive professor, Shannon Perkins, is working to adapt to the changes.

Kim Wilkerson (L), Rend Lake College Associate Vice President of CTE and Student Support, and Shannon Perkins (R), Rend Lake College Automotive Professor, with RLC'S hybrid trainer vehicle from Megatech. 

RLC received its first hybrid vehicle from Megatech, an accredited hybrid and electric automotive technology training provider.  The car is a hybrid engine performance trainer model that includes the following:

• Fully Operational Hybrid Vehicle System
• Breakout Box / Fault Insertion
• Safety Cover w/ Key Over High Voltage Battery
• NATEF-based worksheets for each fault
• OEM/HVAC
• Full Dash
• Steering/Suspension + Brakes
• Full Lighting & Stereo System

This trainer model will allow RLC students to gain hands-on experience with this newer technology and prepare them to meet the needs of the quickly-changing automotive industry.
