Experience the Excitement of St. Louis with RLC Day Tours

Located less than two hours away from Rend Lake College, St. Louis is a vibrant city with a long and storied history. From the iconic Botanical Garden to the classic cuisine of The Hill, visitors can explore the culture and attractions that draw people from all over the world to this midwestern destination. This spring, Rend Lake College is offering two unique opportunities to discover some of the best St. Louis has to offer.

April 18 — Taste the Neighborhoods of St. Louis with Discover St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – Discover St. Louis is proud to present an exclusive culinary journey through the neighborhoods of St. Louis on April 18. Guests will have the opportunity to sample traditional Italian fare such as cheese and pepperoni from a local market and freshly baked goods from Missouri Baking Company. A deluxe gyro buffet and Greek salad at Olympia Greek Restaurant will provide a tasty lunch before heading to Gus’s Pretzels — a hometown favorite since 1920 — for the famous pretzel and ending the day at Ted Drewes Frozen Custard located along historic Route 66.

Participants will receive a goody bag full of sweet treats to take home including cookie samples from Missouri Baking Company and Gus’s Pretzels.

Included in the tour price of $170 per person: Tour fees, lunch, gratuities, and charter bus transportation.

This event promises to be an unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors alike!

Pre-register by March 31. Bus departs from RLC Ina Campus at 7:30 am. Return by 6:30 pm. Bus departs from the RLC MarketPlace in Mt. Vernon at 8:00 am. Return by 6:00 pm.

May 10 — Gardens of St. Louis with Discover St. Louis
Come explore the wonders of St. Louis this May! Discover St. Louis is excited to offer a unique day trip that includes the beautiful Missouri Botanical Garden, Favazza's Restaurant and Bellefontaine Cemetery.

At the Missouri Botanical Garden, travelers will get to experience one of the top three botanical gardens in the world. Home to more than 28 collections and over 83 acres of gardens, this is a sight like no other. Plus, you can step inside the world’s first climatron building for an even closer look and learn about their amazing plant holdings and biological research. Take a narrated tram ride throughout the grounds and be sure to have your camera ready for photo opps!

After exploring the garden, enjoy lunch at Favazza’s Restaurant which includes a delicious Mediterranean-style meal with salad, Sicilian chicken and side of pasta, followed by cannoli for dessert – all included in your ticket price!

The final stop on our tour will be Bellefontaine Cemetery where we'll enjoy a master guided tour. If possible, we may also be able to join one of their horticulturalists for a walk around the grounds as well.
