INA, Ill. (Aug. 24, 2016) - Thespians and community members are invited to auditions for Rend Lake College’s fall play “The Legend of Robin Hood” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. The play will take the stage November 3-6 in the RLC Theatre.

The fall play is based on the folklore character Robin Hood, a skilled archer and outlaw who often steals from the rich to give to the poor. Director Tracey Webb said those who audition for the play should have some general knowledge of Robin Hood, practice a British dialect, and wear shoes to comfortably dance in.

“For those preparing ahead of time, they need to practice cold-reading for the auditions, that is, read anything aloud and get fluent,” said Webb. “A headshot would be nice, and if they wish, a resume showing what plays or musicals they’ve done is also welcome.”

Rehearsals for the play will begin the following week, Sept. 12, and will run from 6 - 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until show time. Students will be registered for the Theatre 1102 class as part of the play to earn credit for rehearsals.

Students and community members must be at least 16 years old to audition. Children’s roles are by invitation only. To learn more about the play or auditions, contact Tracey Webb at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1295 or webbt@rlc.edu.

Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 - Saturday, Nov. 5 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 17 for $12 per person. To purchase tickets, contact the RLC Box Office at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1467.
