INA, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2015) - Anyone interested in going back to school or continuing their higher education is invited to Rend Lake College’s Ina campus next Tuesday to participate in the Illinois Regional College Fair (IRCF).

Formerly known as the Illinois College Exposition, the IRCF is a free event that begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the RLC James “Hummer” Waugh Gymnasium. The evening will feature nearly 40 institutions, and parents, students, and community members will have the chance to meet with officials from those colleges and universities to learn more about them.

Rachel Sveda, RLC Financial Aid and Admissions Coordinator, said the event is open to high school students, RLC students intending to transfer, and anyone from the community who is interested.

“The most important result of the Illinois Regional College Fair is for students to see how many different opportunities and selections they haven when looking for the right college or university for them,” said Sveda. “Students and parents who attend the fair should come prepared with tons of questions.”

Sveda said some important questions to keep in mind are about available majors at the institution, the admissions requirements and process, what the campus setting is like, and the cost of attendance and financial aid availability.

“Each representative at the fair will be eager to answer any and all questions they are asked,” added Sveda. “No matter where the student is in their educational journey, the fair is a great resource for fact-gathering.”

Below are the colleges and universities who have been confirmed for the fair at RLC, though more may be in attendance. The fair is sponsored by the Illinois Association of College Admission Counseling. Students may attend the event without a parent or guardian present.
