INA, Ill. (May 18, 2026) — The Rend Lake College Foundation recently welcomed James M. Johnson to its Board of Directors. A healthcare executive with over 35 years of experience, Johnson brings a wealth of fiscal expertise and a deep-rooted commitment to Southern Illinois to the RLCF board.
Johnson, who has served as the CEO of Franklin Hospital in Benton since 2016, was officially seated at the Foundation Board meeting held on April 30, 2026.
Throughout his career, Johnson has been a driving force for healthcare development in the region. Since becoming CEO of Franklin Hospital in 2016, he has led several major initiatives. Franklin Hospital has expanded services, upgraded essential facilities, and successfully opened a new Medical Services building. His impact extends to the state level, where he has served on the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) Board of Directors for the past six years and currently serves as the board's President.

Beyond his executive role, Johnson’s professional background is defined by his work in healthcare financial analysis, budgeting, and Medicare reimbursement. Since 2016, he has been an active member of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association’s PAC Committee and the Small and Rural Committee, establishing himself as a knowledgeable and compassionate advocate for improving rural healthcare access..
