INA, Ill. (February 6, 2023) — Students at Rend Lake College were treated to an inspiring demonstration last week by artist artist Jerome Wisehart. During the event, held in the college theater, Jerome shared his passion for painting and how explained how it can serve as a form of therapy. Wisehart told the students, "Art allows me to express my thoughts and emotions in a way that is comfortable and visually impactful."
Abstract art can be a difficult concept to grasp, but Jerome's demonstration provided students with a unique insight into the creative process and a deeper appreciation of the innovative methods of making abstract art.
In speaking about the demonstration, Jerome noted, "I love watching that moment when students step out of just spectating and engage with the art. This presentation was particularly exciting as the students were encouraged to participate by writing on the canvas background prior to my finishing the piece. Several of the students asked thought-provoking questions and seemed genuinely interested. It was my perception that several of the students were getting that light bulb moment and seeing the value of an artistic medium that lets emotion out weigh process."
The demonstration by Jerome Wisehart was a true highlight for the students at RLC. Through his talent and passion, he was able to educate and inspire the students, leaving them with newfound appreciation for the beauty and power of abstract art.
