New courses, curricula approved
Two new Associate in Applied Science Degrees, Cosmetology and Barbering, were approved Tuesday and authorized for submission to the Illinois Community College Board for action. These degrees are in addition to the occupational certificates which currently exist in both disciplines. In addition, two new courses were approved and authorized for ICCB submission. They are Writing for Nurses (ENGL 1104) and Event Catering (CULA 1209). A $30 lab fee also was added to the Grilling and Smoking (CULA 1210) class.
Instructor sharing agreements with SIC, SCC receive approval
The board approved agreements for the sharing of instructors and course costs with Southeastern Illinois College and with Shawnee Community College. These agreements allow for course offerings at both institutions which might not be offered otherwise due to low enrollment or lack of instructor qualifications.
Heisner to direct Rad Tech program
Holly Heisner was transferred to Instructor / Director of Radiologic Technology from the position of that program's Clinical Coordinator effective Jan. 1. Heisner is pursuing her Master's Degree and meets the education requirements of the Joint Review Commission on the Education of Radiologic Technologists, through which RLC's program is accredited. She brings worldwide experience to the position as she has spent several years overseas working in her field.
