Meeting Highlights
Under New Business, the Board:
- Approved the addition of a new course - TRUK 1207 Hazardous Material Review - and to authorize its submission to the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) for action effective on August 1.
- Approved revisions to Policy & Procedure 2.1150 – Strategic Planning, as presented, second reading, effective May 10.
- Approved revisions to Policy 2.1175 – Assessment, as presented, second reading, effective May 10.
- Approved revisions to Policy & Procedure 4.1115 – Fees, effective for the Summer Term 2022.
- Approved revisions to Policy and Procedure 2.1510 – Social Media, as presented, effective May 10.
- Approved the 2022-2023 Handbooks as provided for Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT-Basic, EMT-Paramedic, Nursing, Pharmacy Tech, Phlebotomy, Radiologic Technology, Medical Assistant, Medical Coding, and Studio RLC.
- Approved revisions to Policy & Procedure 2.1720 – Community Use of College Facilities, as presented, first reading, effective June 14.
- Approved revisions to Policy & Procedure 3.1110 – Computation of Hourly Rate of Pay for Part-Time Employees, as presented, first reading, effective July 01.
- Accepted the bid from Glandt Roofing, LLC for the base bid in the amount of $110,000 to replace the Event Center Lobby Roof.
- Approved four-year AAS Business to BBA program plans between Rend Lake College District #521 and McKendree University, as presented, effective May 10. Programs include Accounting, Business Administration, Cyber Defense, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Management
Marketing, Sport Management, Supply Chain Management and Logistics. These Articulation Agreements allow students to complete an AAS Degree in Business at Rend Lake College and seamlessly transfer to McKendree University and earn the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.
Under Personnel, the Board:
- Accepted with regret the retirement resignation of Lynda Laningham, Math Professor, effective May 31. Laningham retires with 32 years of service and commitment to the students of Rend Lake College and the people of its district.
- Accepted with regret the resignation of Lynn Salesberry, Nursing Instructor, effective May 05.
- Accepted with regret the resignation of Angelina Mabrey, Reference Librarian, effective June 13.
- Granted permission to create the position and job description, and advertise for CTE Mentor/Success Coach effective May 10. This position is needed based on the college recently receiving the Early Childhood Access Consortium for Equity Grant from ICCB.
- Will not renew the employment contract of Dr. Becky Robinson, Grant Writer. Robinson’s current contract and employment at RLC will expire on June 30.
- Appointed Mr. Jonathon Walters as Public Information Specialist on a full-time, 50-week, non-tenure track contract, pending a successful background check, effective May 11. Walters holds a bachelor's and two master's degrees from Western Governors University. He is currently the owner and operator of Complete Marketing Solutions and Mathematics and STEAM Teacher at Zeigler Royalton Elementary School. He worked as a Mathematics and Behavior Interventionist at Benton Elementary School from 2017 to 2019.

The board heard a presentation on Instructional Design & Assessment from Director Shari Carpenter and Specialist Lynanne Page.
President Terry Wilkerson reported that he has been meeting with stakeholders and progress is continuing to be made on the new Agronomy Innovation Center and plans for it to be ready in August.
