Meeting Highlights

Under New Business, the Board:

Approved revisions to Rend Lake College Policy & Procedure 3.1400 - Family and Medical Leave Act (Second Reading) as presented, effective January 01, 2022.

RATIONALE: This policy revision is needed to meet the changes to Illinois statute 105 ILCS 5/24-6.4 reducing the minimum number of hours worked to be eligible for FMLA leave.

Approved revisions to Rend Lake College Policy & Procedure 3.1405 - Victim’s Economic Security and Safety Act “VESSA”, as presenting, Second Reading, effective January 01, 2022.

RATIONALE: Rend Lake College Policy & Procedure 3.1405 needs to be updated to include revisions made to Illinois Public Act 102-0487.

Granted permission to create the stipend position for ESports Sponsor / Coach, as presented, effective November 9, 2021.

RATIONALE: This stipend position is necessary in order to establish a competitive E-Sports Club at the college. The club will be able to participate in tournaments both locally and remotely. Local and regional demand for gaming / e-sports has increased in recent years. RLC has established a gaming area in the South Oasis.

Approved the Memorandum of agreement between Rend Lake College District #521 and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, as presented, effective November 9, 2021.

RATIONALE: This Memorandum of Agreement provides the details of the contractual relationship between Rend Lake College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale. It should be noted this is a 5-year agreement unless terminated earlier by either party.

Approved the memorandum of understanding between Rend Lake College District #521 and Rend Lake College Federation of Teachers Local 3708, as presented, effective November 9, 2021.

RATIONALE: This memorandum of understanding addresses the potential impact of the Governor’s Executive Order 2021-20 on the relationship between the two parties.

Under Personnel, the Board:

Accepted with regret the resignation of Andrea Davey, Coordinator of Institutional Research & Analysis, effective November 10, 2021.

Ratified the appointment of Mr. David Nelson as Help Desk & Support Technician, effective November 16, 2021.

RATIONALE: Nelson earned an Associate in Applied Science degree in IT System Specialist from Rend Lake College in May 2017. He has worked as a Help Desk Support Technician since December 2018.
