INA, Ill. (March 9, 2023) — The Rend Lake College Foundation Children's Center had a fun-filled week last week (February 27 - March 3) celebrating the life and literary works of Dr. Seuss. The Children's Center participated in various activities to promote reading, creativity, and learning.

On Monday, the children wore red and blue clothing and read the book "One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish". They also participated in a math number sequencing activity.

Tuesday was 'Crazy Hat Day'. The students celebrated by reading the classic book "The Cat in the Hat".

On Wednesday, the children listened to Faith Blair, RLC's Administrative Assistant in the Arts & Sciences Division, read the book "Wacky Wednesday" at story time in the Children's Library located in the Mary & George Slankard Learning Resource Center. They also dressed up in wacky clothing to match the theme of the book.

On Thursday, the children were treating to a reading of "Green Eggs and Ham" and even had the opportunity to cook and taste green eggs and ham for snack time. They also voted on whether or not they liked the dish.

Friday was "Fox in Socks" day, and everyone wore their favorite silly socks to school. The children also had a fun activity where they practiced making patterns by creating "Cat in the Hat" towers out of red cups and white foam plates.

The Children's Center's Dr. Seuss Week celebration is part of the center's commitment to promoting early childhood education and fostering a love of reading and learning in young children.
