Rend Lake College Spring 2023 Student Trustee Election: Details and Key Dates

INA, Ill. (January 26, 2023) — The period to file as a candidate for Rend Lake College Student Trustee opens on Thursday, February 9, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. The RLC Student Trustee represents the student body on the RLC Board of Trustees, attending meetings each month and having an advisory vote on all action items. It is a great opportunity for students motivated to get involved in a service role.

Interested in running for the office? Here is what you will need to get started. 

  1. Petition — this must include 50 or more signatures of students, must be properly filled in, signed and notarized. 
  2. Statement of Candidacy — this must be properly filled in, signed and notarized.
  3. Statement of Economic Interest — this must be completed and turned in to the Student Services Office. They will get the statement filed at the County Clerk’s Office for you and attach the receipt to your Petition and Statement of Candidacy.

Qualifications:

  • A student trustee must reside within the Rend Lake College District.
  • At the time of the election and during service as a trustee, a student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and have accumulated 12 credit hours prior to election.
  • The student member cannot be a full-time employee at Rend Lake College.
  • The student must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 or better at the time of election and during service as a trustee.

To receive a candidate packet, students can pick one up at the Academic Advisement Center in the Baker Administration Building on the Ina Campus. Alternatively, they can request one to be sent electronically by clicking the button above or emailing leeckh@rlc.edu

The following are the key dates for the Spring 2023 Rend Lake College Student Trustee Election:

  • First day for filing: Thursday, February 9, 8:00 a.m.
  • Last day for filing: Thursday, February 23, 4:30 p.m.
  • Last day to withdraw Candidacy: Friday, February 24, 4:00 p.m.
  • Ballots Ready for Inspection: Monday, February 27, 12:00 p.m.
  • Absentee Voting: Tuesday, February 28
  • Election Days: Wednesday, March 1 & Thursday, March 2

Current RLC students can vote between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the Academic Advisement Center. They are required to bring a student ID.

This is a great opportunity for RLC students who are motivated to serve and get involved in the college's decision-making process.
