Meeting Highlights
Under New Business, the Board:
- Approved Course/Curriculum.
RATIONALE: The items have been approved by the Curriculum Committee and Academic Council. These course and curriculum requests improve the college's educational offerings and support efforts to enhance the quality of instruction.
- Approved Revisions to Job Descriptions, effective October 8, 2024.
RATIONALE: These job description revisions are needed to better meet the needs of the institution.
- Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy and Procedure 5.1505 – Vehicle Usage for College Travel, first reading, effective November 6, 2024.
RATIONALE: These revisions to policy are needed to better meet the needs of the institution.
- Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy 5.1215 –Travel Reimbursement, first reading, effective November 6, 2024.
RATIONALE: These revisions to policy are needed to better meet the needs of the institution.
- Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy 3.1110 - Computation of Hourly Rate of Pay for Part-Time Employees, first reading, effective January 1, 2025.
RATIONALE: These revisions are needed to better suit the needs of the institution. These salary increases are also an attempt to remain competitive with industry and other institutions, as well as, the status of minimum wage in Illinois.
- Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy & Procedure 2.1720 – Community Use of College Facilities, first reading, effective November 6, 2024.
RATIONALE: These revisions are needed to better suit the needs of the institution.
- Ratified Award for purchase and installation of a Solar Panel Array for the Murphy-Wall Pinckneyville Campus to Sunvolt Solar of Mt. Vernon, pending appropriate approval from the city of Pinckneyville and the county of Perry.
RATIONALE: In response to the advertisement for competitive bids, the college received four bids. Based on the bid specifications, Sunvolt Solar was the low bidder at $90,000 and $2.25 per watt. Nearly all of this project is being funded through an Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN) Grant.
Director of Southern Illinois Manufacturing Academy Chris Sink gives a tour of the new facility in Mt. Vernon to members of the RLC Board of Trustees, along with employees of the college, at the board's October meeting.
Under Personnel, the Board:
- Granted permission to advertise for an Industrial Electronics Instructor, effective January 1, 2025.
- Appointed Brandee Tate as Subsidized Child Care Specialist, CCR&R, pending a successful background check, effective Oct. 16, 2024.
- Appointed Daniel Brock as Food Services Director, effective October 16, 2024.
Under Financial Information, the Board:
- Ratification of the Payment of College Expenses including Travel Expense Reimbursements
