INA, Ill. (May 11, 2018) - The Rend Lake College Foundation Children’s Center (RLCFCC) graduated 17 students from the Pre-K and Preschool classes this morning in the James “Hummer†Waugh Gymnasium.
Opening the ceremony, RLCFCC Director Brooke May welcomed family and friends to the first RLCFCC graduation held on the RLC Commencement stage, and thanked them for their support over the last year.
“We made it to the big time as we walk across the official Rend Lake College graduation stage. I want to thank everyone who is here celebrating this special day with us,†said May. “As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. Please know that once you’re a child here, you’re always part of the family.â€
Dailyn Noble, a senior at Sesser-Valier High School and 2005 RLCFCC Pre-K graduate, then addressed the graduates and their families with her experiences at the center. Noble will be attending RLC next fall with aspirations to become a nurse.
“The RLC (Foundation) Children’s Center really helped me prepare for the transition to kindergarten. I made many friends here who taught me to build relationships and work as a team. Thank you to the staff for all your dedication. You helped me become the person I am today,†said Noble. “Graduates, this is your special day. The time has come for new adventure in your life. Cherish these days at the Children’s Center, enjoy your summer and have fun.â€
After the graduates sang the alphabet song, Pre-K Teacher Rene Crouse and Preschool Teacher Nichole Martie also addressed the audience. The duo then awarded graduation certificates to their classes and presented a slideshow summarizing the year.
Graduates and their families alongside RLC faculty and staff enjoyed a reception following the graduation ceremony in the RLC Aquatics Center Lobby.
