RLC hosts Southern Illinois Beef Association workshop

INA, IL (March 23, 2022) -- Rend Lake College and the Southern Illinois Beef Association hosted a workshop Tuesday evening to help local farmers and ranchers to make the most out of their agriculture businesses.

A large crowd gathered in Waugh Gym to hear a couple of presentations. The first speaker was Travis Meteer, the University of Illinois Extension Center Educator for Commercial Agriculture. Meteer leads statewide programming for Illinois beef cattle producers. 

Meteer discussed the different ways farmers can market their business and stake their reputation on future growth for their farm and agriculture businesses.

In his speech about "Profitable Grazing," Understanding Ag Consultant David Kleinschmidt provided tips on how farmers can utilize livestock as a tool to boost soils productivity and farm profitability.

RLC is hosting a variety of workshops to assist new farmers and ranchers, whether you are starting a new farm or plan to acquire an existing one, these events are available. Dates and times are still to be determined, based on event schedules and availability.
