INA, Ill. (Oct. 6, 2020)
The first full week of October marks Mental Illness Awareness Week in the United States. At Rend Lake College, we want you to know your health matters and that we care about all of our students.
RLC has resources for students to utilize if they do feel like they need to reach out for help. Visit http://www.ulifeline.org/RLC/get_help_now for RLC’s free online resource for college mental health.
If you need immediate help, text START to 741-741 or call the free 24-hour National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or call 911.
RLC has also compiled a booklet of local mental health and community resources, which can be found here: https://images-direct.rlc.edu/images/files/Community_Resource_Booklet_Updated_Mar_2020_1_1.pdf
Congress established Mental Illness Awareness Week in 1990. The National Alliance on Mental Illness spearheaded the effort to educate and increase awareness about mental illness.
If you need help, don’t hesitate to reach out. If you have any questions or need other resources, please contact RL-Cares at rl-cares@rlc.edu.
