INA, Ill. (Jan. 25, 2018) - Rend Lake College was recently awarded a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Leadership Grant in the amount of $50,000. The 18-month grant, awarded by the Illinois Community College Board, was established to support the improvement and innovation of CTE programming throughout the Illinois community college system.
The grant offers the college an opportunity to be innovative and flexible in implementing support service strategies that respond to the varying needs of the diverse population of CTE students. The grant will allow RLC to focus on identifying potential challenges or barriers students face while attending school. Services will then be developed to assist CTE students in expanding their employment skills by addressing industry deficiencies.
RLC will utilize the grant to provide professional development opportunities for faculty, partially fund a position within the CTE Success Center and provide tutoring for CTE students. The CTE Success Center provides a variety of free assistance services to ensure students successfully reach their educational and employment goals. The CTE Success Center is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, phone Joseph Marlo or Joy Fitts at 618-437-5321 Ext. 1769 or Ext. 1280.
