Food Drive for elementary students March 5-7 in Student Center

INA, Ill. (Feb. 28, 2013) - “Hunger Doesn’t Take A Spring Break.” That’s the slogan for an upcoming food drive, organized by Rend Lake College students in the AmeriCorps program.
Their mission is to deliver as much non-perishable food as they can to local elementary schools when AmeriCorps Week kicks off March 11. To do that, they are asking local residents to bring pantry items to the RLC Student Center between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., March 5 and 6, or 11 a.m. to noon on March 7.
â€œWe will be accepting pantry items like canned goods and boxed foods, such as cereals, granola bars, dry pastas, and other boxed foods,” said RLC AmeriCorps Campus Coordinator Leah Conner. “We plan to make bags with the donations we receive to disperse to participating schools. The participating schools will be giving the items to students in need for their spring break week.”
