INA, Ill. (November 29, 2022) — If you love to fly drones for fun, you may have thought about turning your hobby into a money-making business. However, before you are legally permitted, you'll need to take and pass the Federal Aviation Administration's Aeronautical Knowledge Test.

This test is commonly referred to as the FAA Part 107 due to the title of the federal regulations for small unmanned aircraft systems (14 CFR Part 107). Passing that test is required to fly drones commercially. It is the only way to make money as a drone pilot in the U.S. legally.

Drones aren't just for photographers. Some industries that benefit from using them include agriculture, real estate, architecture, insurance, construction, telecommunications, oil & gas, conservation & research, and more. Implementing drones into your industry can be a game changer.

The test can be daunting without prior aviation experience, which is where Rend Lake College steps in.

RLC is offering a 2-day, 16-hour weekend course to prepare you for the Part 107 test. You will learn about application regulations, air space classification, weather sources and effects, emergency procedures, crew resource management, radio communications, aeronautical decision-making, airport operations, maintenance & preflight instructions, night-time operation, and the next steps for testing and licensing. Whether you want to fly commercially or as a hobbyist in a safer manner, this course is for you.
