INA, Ill. (March 17, 2016) - The Rend Lake College Foundation Children’s Center again earns the stamp of approval from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The center, built over a decade ago on the Ina campus, offers education for preschool children, infants, and toddlers.
The Children’s Center was notified of the “good standing†rating last month, said Brooke May, RLCF Children’s Center Director. She added the center is re-accredited every five years by NAEYC, though they must provide proof they are maintaining standards every year. The center has been accredited by NAEYC since 2003.
“NAEYC reaccredits us for a guaranteed five years, but we have to submit annual reports to stay in good standing. This fall, we will begin the process for re-accreditation for the next five years,†explained May. “This just goes to show we’re doing all we should be by meeting all necessary accreditation factors and criteria.â€
This spring is turning into a big month for the RLCF Children’s Center as ground broke today on the Gross Motor Room expansion. Several donations to the RLC Foundation have made the expansion possible, which will include a children’s library and an indoor play area.
The RLCF Children’s Center is currently enrolling new and existing families for the summer semester. New families can also apply for the fall semester on Monday, April 4. The Children’s Center is open to anyone in the general public, from RLC students and staff to the local community.
There is an infant room for ages 6 weeks to 18 months, a toddler room for children ages 18 to 35 months, and two classrooms for children ages 3 to 5. There is a free Pre-K classroom which requires children to meet eligibility requirements, including a checklist and a screening for the child.
Anyone interested in enrolling a child or learning more about the Center is invited to contact May at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1393, or mayb@rlc.edu.
