Register 2 Vote
Rend Lake College students, FROM LEFT, Tanner Hill (Woodlawn), Sydney McPhail (West Frankfort), and Amanda Loker (Wayne City) helped students register to vote Wednesday morning as a part of their First Year Experience (FYE) class's Service Learning Project. The service projects are designed to be ways the students can get active both on campus and in local communities, and are worth credit in the class. FYE was named the Higher Learning Commission’s Quality Initiative Project for 2014 due to its action to improve students’ education at RLC. Click on the image for a larger view.

Fill The Fire Truck
RLC teamed up with the West City Fire Department to help "fill the fire truck" with cereal and non-perishable food items Wednesday morning to donate to Lifeboat Alliance Homeless Shelter in Mt. Vernon. The food collection was another FYE Orientation class's Service Learning Project. After the food collection ends, the class will take the donation to the homeless shelter and, during the same trip, they will help the staff put together a sandbox in the shelter's playground.
