McLeansboro resident Miranda Simmons accepted her prize from Rend Lake College President Terry Wilkerson today. Simmons was the winning name drawn earlier this month in the college's contest The Full Ride
no tuition or fees for one year.

Wilkerson doubled down on the Monday-morning excitement and upped the prize to two years.

"I'm in shock! So excited!" Simmons said. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to [President Wilkerson]. Thank you to everyone." Simmons will start RLC's Early Childhood Education program in August.

"Congratulations to Miranda on winning and thank you to all of those who entered the contest," Wilkerson said. "She's pursuing a noble profession, teaching our youth. Best of luck to her.

“To those who didn't get picked
there's never been a better time to enroll at Rend Lake. Our tuition's the same as it was five years ago and 90 percent of our students use financial aid. Meanwhile, we've developed six different types of classes you can choose from for flexibility, including face-to-face classes coming back this summer. We've expanded our wraparound services to support mental health, technology needs, academic success, and more. And we're making big improvements to infrastructure and facilities on campus."
