Students compete at 39th Annual IDEA Competition (standalone photos)

INA, Ill. (March 4, 2016) - Dozens of students from four local high schools competed Friday in the 39th Annual IDEA (Illinois Drafting Educators Association) Drafting-Design Competition on the Rend Lake College campus. The first and second place winners in each of the eight competition categories will advance to the State IDEA Competition, held April 16 at Illinois State University in Normal. Four students will also receive Academic Awards to attend RLC's Architecture program in the future.

Benton Consolidated High School (BCHS) had 18 winning places, followed by Mt. Vernon Township High School (MVTHS) with four winning places and Zeigler-Royalton High School (ZRHS) with two winning places. Hamilton County High School also participated.

The Introduction to Board Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Gage Rainey of BCHS in second place, Olivia Samp of BCHS in third place, and Parker Williams of BCHS in first place.

The Introduction to CAD Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Joseph Cook of BCHS in second place, Kyle Bonsack of BCHS in third place, and Harley Bonsack of BCHS in first place.

The 3D CAD Modeling Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Kevin Gibbs of BCHS in third place, Andrew Lingle of BCHS in first place, and Hunter Shockley of BCHS in second place.

The Assembly Modeling Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Raymond Smothers of BCHS in third place, Levi Pearce of BCHS in second place, and Stefanie Bouthrow of BCHS in first place.

The Machining CAD Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Logan Smith of BCHS in second place, Kobe Castillo of BCHS in third place, and Jarrett Bonsack of BCHS in first place.

The Architecture Board Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Hamilton Page of BCHS in third place, Lauren Zinzilieta of BCHS in first place, and Andrew Ashby of MVTHS in second place.

The 2D Architecture CAD Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Walker Brockhouse of MVTHS in third place, Adam Santor of BCHS in first place, and Stephen Cortez of MVTHS in second place.

The 3D Architecture CAD Competition winners are, FROM LEFT, Brandon Hahn of ZRHS in third place, Aaron Steele of MVTHS in first place, and Bradford Broadway of ZRHS in second place.
