The Wilma Guy High Tea, an event named after the late Wilma Guy who passed away February 21, 2022 at the age of 97.  She bestowed an endowment of $740,000.00 to the RLC Foundation and requested a scholarship to be named in her parent’s name:  The Charles and Maude Guy Family Scholarship.

“The High Tea is a long-standing tradition,” said RLCF Assistant Director of Development Amy Newell. “The Foundation invites our donors and women in the community to show our appreciation towards them and also showcase the talents of the Culinary Arts department.”

Tammy Martin was the guest speaker this year. She gave an encouraging speech titled “My Personal Health & Wellness Journey.” She shared with guests her story how she improved her physical and mental health through fitness and eating healthy.

Martin is a life-long resident of Southern Illinois. In the early 2000’s, she completed her Masters of Education and became a teacher at Mt. Vernon Township High School where she has been employed since 2008, teaching dual credit course for RLC.

The event was sponsored by Frost Aesthetics. The owner Allison Frost and employee Melissa Bertschi were there representing the company and also talked about the cosmetic and restorative services they offer. Bertschi, a former RLC Aesthetics instructor, has an endowment scholarship for her late mother called the Karen L. Bertschi Memorial Scholarship.

RLC would like to thank the Foundation, the Culinary Arts department, our sponsors, and guest speaker for making this event possible.
