INA, Ill. (Oct. 15, 2015) - It’s shaping up to be a busy night at the Rend Lake College Open House next Tuesday, with officials, faculty, and staff preparing to tell all about different programs and the college process to potential students. Highlighting the annual event is a drawing for a 12-credit-hour academic award to be given to a new or future student.

The community is invited to visit the Ina campus from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday to speak with college representatives about programs of study, admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and more. Tours will be available of RLC facilities, specifically the Student Center, Aquatic Center, Learning Resource Center (LRC), and Science Building.

Upon arriving on campus, students should visit the Student Center to register for door prizes and enter a drawing for the chance to win an academic award, which can be used for the Spring 2016 or Fall 2016 semesters. With the award, future students can take up to 12 credit hours of classes tuition-free, approximately a $1,140 value.

Also in the Student Center will be several information tables regarding RLC’s student services and financial aid options. Information about virtually every program on campus will be represented in the Student Center’s Private Dining Area. Any visitors wanting to tour campus or a specific building can inquire at the registration table.

“Many aspects of Rend Lake College will be on display Tuesday night for future students, current students, community members, and parents to see and gather information,” said Lori Ragland, Vice President of Career Technical Instruction. “RLC will provide visitors with an up-close look at classrooms, programs, and the atmosphere of the college. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone for a great evening.”

Any prospective student interested in mathematics, science, or business can visit the Science Building to speak with college officials. In the LRC, visitors will have the chance to sit in on an open practice with the Music and Theatre departments as they prepare for the Fall Concert and Fall Play, “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.” The Rec, formerly known as the Hitting Zone, will also be open for tours of the new Fitness Center.

RLC’s campus will be open to tours throughout the evening. Refreshments will be served by students in the Culinary Arts program. For more information about the Open House, contact Kristina Shelton at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1267, or at sheltonk@rlc.edu.
