Warbirds over Rend Lake opens new flying field (standalone photos)

INA, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2017) - Rend Lake College President Terry Wilkerson, center, stands with members of the Rend Lake RC Club at the 24th Annual Warbirds over Rend Lake event, the first official flying event held at the newly completed flying field on the east side of the RLC campus. INA, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2017) - Rend Lake College President Terry Wilkerson, right, had the honor of the first official flight on the newly completed flying field on the Rend Lake Campus. RLC Unmanned Aircraft Systems Instructor Chris Edwards, second from left, took over mid-flight to share in the honor. INA, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2017) - Dozens of radio controlled aircraft came to Rend Lake College over the weekend to participate in the 24th Annual Warbirds Over Rend Lake event, hosted by the Rend Lake RC Club. This year's event was special, as it was the first event to take place on the newly completed RLC flying field. After completing the first official flight on the new field, RLC President Terry Wilkerson, center, and RLC Unmanned Aircraft Systems Instructor Chris Edwards, second to left, took time to speak with event participants and learn more about the equitment used.
