Put on your platforms and get ready to boogie down. An upcoming event promises not only a funky good time but the chance to win a free tuition waiver from Rend Lake College.

SOUL Bingo will set things off on Wednesday, June 23, at the Rolland Lewis Building in Mt. Vernon from 6 to 9 p.m. Mz. Erma-Jean So-Fly will be the host for a night that vows to not be an ordinary game of Bingo.

Admission is free, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top winners. The grand prize is 12 semester hours of tuition at RLC, which is worth $1,500.

Other prizes include $25, $50 and $100.

Soul Train Line with Starr Child will spin DJ music for the event, and Chef Adam’s Food for Life food truck will be on the scene.

Participants can show off their funky side by dressing up in attire. Costumes can match the theme, which is "Soul 70’s disco meets retirement home chic.” There will be a merch table with souvenir items available.
