INA, Ill. (Feb. 18, 2016) - Give your child the gift of sports and athleticism with one of Rend Lake College’s youth sports classes this spring. Children age 5 or older can register for soccer or golf, and girls in fourth through sixth grades can enroll in volleyball.

Soccer Skills Basics for Beginners will cover the rules and the basics of the game of soccer. Children should come dressed to play and bring their own soccer ball, if they have one. The class meets with instructor Jay Ray from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at the Perry County Soccer Field, and costs $10.

If your child is better suited for a round of golf, consider My Buddy & Me Golf. This class will cover the basic fundamentals of the game, including rules and etiquette. Instructor Dan Breslin will focus on safety and key components, such as putting, chipping, and swinging. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The class meets from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Mondays, April 4 through 25 at Red Hawk Country Club in Pinckneyville, and costs $20 plus a supply fee.

For older girls, Volleyball 4th-6th Graders will teach the fundamentals of volleyball by practicing skills for the correct bump, set, spike, and serve. Also, students will learn about scoring, positioning, and the rules for volleyball. A tee shirt will be provided for all participants. Instructor April McCormick will meet with the class from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays between April 4 and 18 in the Old High School Gymnasium in McLeansboro. The class costs $30.
