High school is the perfect time to build your future. Through Rend Lake College’s Dual Credit and Dual Enrollment programs, eligible juniors and seniors can earn official college credit simultaneously with their high school diplomas. From hands-on technical training to general education transfer requirements, RLC provides the courses, flexibility, and financial savings to help you get a head start on tomorrow.
Dual credit allows high school juniors and seniors to take college-level courses right at their high school, taught by approved high school instructors. When students pass, they receive both high school and RLC college credit simultaneously, accumulating college credits prior to high school graduation.
Dual enrollment offers college courses outside the traditional high school setting — online, during the evening, or directly on RLC’s campus — which also result in dual college and high school credit.

Juniors and seniors attending a high school in the Rend Lake College district may take advantage of dual credit courses per the terms and conditions set forth in 110 ILCS 27/1-30. Students must meet requirements and prerequisites prior to enrolling in courses. Students must be approved by their school counselor to participate in the program by being enrolled in a Dual Credit qualified class.
High school juniors and seniors, either home-schooled or attending a high school in the RLC district, may take advantage of dual enrollment by enrolling in courses which take place after the normal high school day. Students must meet placement requirements and prerequisites prior to enrolling in courses.
The partnership between RLC and area high schools allows the college to offer traditional dual credit FREE of charge. No fees or tuition will be charged for traditional dual credit classes (taught by qualified high school instructors using college curriculum at the high school campus during regular school hours).
Tuition for dual enrollment is half-cost for up to eight credit hours per semester. Any courses taken beyond eight hours are billed at the standard tuition rate. Students are responsible for course fees, supplies, and textbook costs.

The Marcela Mendez Route will guide Benton Consolidated High School Students through her journey of dual credit courses offered by BCHS and dual enrollment courses. With this route, students will earn 68 college credit hours, an Associate in Arts, and an Associate in Science.
The Nate Ragland Route will guide Waltonville High School students through his journey of dual credit courses offered by the high school and dual enrollment courses. With this route, students will earn 69 college credit hours, an Associate in Science, an Associate in Arts, and a General Education Core Curriculum credential.
The Brooklyn Petro Route will guide Sesser-Valier High School students through her journey of dual credit courses offered by SVHS and dual enrollment courses. With this route, students will earn 64 credit hours, an Associate in Arts, and an Entrepreneurship Certificate.
