INA, Ill. (May 23, 2025) — Rend Lake College was able to showcase the talent and hard work of the RLC students, specifically those with an aptitude for music, at the RLC Theatre on May 8.
The talented choirs from RLC and Southeastern Illinois College and the brilliant RLC concert band performed for the public during the 2025 Spring Concert: Traveling Harmony. This annual concert has become a much-anticipated event in the college community.
Five pieces of music were performed by the RLC concert band, including "Mount of Night" by Eric Osterling, "Star of the County Down" arranged by David Mateyka, Mt. Vernon Township High School band director, and "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Freddie Mercury. The band was directed by RLC Conductor William Reynolds.
The concert continued with the combined RLC and SIC choir, conducted by Sara Alstat-Sanders, RLC music professor, and Clinton Cory Garmane, SIC music instructor. A total of 9 songs were sung by the student choir. Alstat-Sanders and Garmane performed "Before and After You/One Second and a Million Miles" from the Broadway musical, The Bridges of Madison County.
