Communications Lab

The communications lab provides a complimentary service for all RLC students, faculty and staff who desire assistance with a presentation.

Hours will be posted the first week of the semester.

Communications Lab Location

The Comm. Lab is in the North Oasis in room 125. It is located at the end of the hall on the west-side of the building.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge for students, faculty, or staff of Rend Lake College. You may visit the lab as many times as you wish.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are recommended. You may sign-up for an appointment outside of the Comm. Lab, on the bulletin board. Appointments are in thirty-minute time segments. You may sign-up for an additional appointment if you need more time. Also accepting ZOOM, Google or Skype appointments.

What do I need to bring?

You will need a flash drive to save your work. You may also want to bring your phone charger if the wish to record and review your presentation on your phone. A computer is also provided for doing research and making visual aids. You should also bring your assignment from you instructor and note cards to prepare your delivery.

Will I get Study Hall credit when I am working in the Communications Lab?

Time spent in the Comm. Lab will apply toward your Study Hall requirement.

Can I receive help with presentations for classes other than Communications?

You may receive help with a presentation for any class.

What services are available in the Communications Lab?

Brainstorming topic ideas
Narrowing your topic
Researching your topic
Organizing your thoughts
Outlining your presentation
Practicing your delivery
Making a Power Point visual aid
Recording your presentation
Reviewing your presentation
Making revisions
