First Year Experience (FYE)

The First Year Experience Program at Rend Lake College is designed to improve student engagement in the college experience by fostering personal connections and increased communication with faculty, staff, and peers. New students will also learn skills such as time management and organization which lead to improved academic performance and are essential for success in the workplace and higher education beyond graduation. The First Year Experience also prepares students to meet professional standards for behavior including professional codes of conduct, integrity, and ethics. After completing the FYE program, students will understand and successfully navigate the college culture including the virtual and physical environments of the college. These elements are taught through Orientation 1101. This course is a graduation requirement for all new students who are enrolled and are seeking an Associate's Degree.
