Summary: This position involves the supervision of Agronomy operations for Trenton. This includes the coordination of Custom Field Applicators, Tender Drivers, and other agronomy operations staff.

 

Key Roles:

 

Lead, Manage, Hold People Accountable

  • Provide leadership by setting clear standards, goals, expectations and leading by example
  • Hire, fire, review, reward and recognize employees based on the core values of Top Ag
  • Demonstrate accountability and hold others accountable
  • Plan for and complete employee training and development
  • Communicate effectively with fellow employees to achieve shared goals

 

Safety

  • Hold self and others accountable to safety policies and safe behaviors
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary workplace in compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT, etc.)
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct unsafe actions and/or conditions
  • Work closely with EHS Manager to manage operations risks
  • Lead by example
  • Everyone goes home safe and sound

 

Inventory Management

  • Lead operations processes to manage inventory and limit shrink
  • Conduct regular counts to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Work with Logistics Coordinator, Agronomy Operations Manager, and Agronomy Department Manager to maintain in-season inventory levels to meet customer needs
  • Responsible for maintaining proper and secure storage of inventory

 

Operations Training

  • Work with Agronomy Operations Manager to develop and execute employee training programs
  • Ensure that all operations staff are properly trained and prepared for the job at hand
  • Provide refresher training on scheduled and as needed basis (incidents, role changes, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other Operations Supervisor to ensure consistent training provided across company

 

Equipment/Facilities Maintenance

  • Responsible for ensuring proper and regular maintenance of equipment, trucks, and facilities is executed
  • Hold employees accountable for regular maintenance to help reduce repair costs
  • Responsible for ordering all parts and equipment needed for maintenance

 

All other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret required documents
  • Leadership skills

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL with HazMat preferred)
  • State of Illinois Commercial Applicator License preferred

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Plant and Soil Science, or related field required
  • Five or more years of experience in agronomy operations
  • Supervisory experience preferred

 

Working Conditions:

Position operates in both an outdoor environment and an office environment. Requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, working on a computer, and exposure to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, chemicals, and internal and external temperature/weather conditions (from -20 to +100 degrees). Employee may work at elevated heights, in confined spaces, and must be able to adapt to extended-hour workdays. Employee will be required to climb several flights of stairs and ladders. Ability to drive equipment such as forklift and/or skid loader. Position requires the ability to lift weights of sixty (60) pounds or less; bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds; and pushing brooms and shovels. Employee must be willing to work weekends, seasonal hours, holidays, and overtime if needed.
