About This Position
Rend Lake College is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of campus facilities and equipment. This hands-on position performs a variety of maintenance duties, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and mechanical system support, preventive maintenance, and equipment repairs. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, mechanically inclined, and committed to maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming campus environment while supporting college operations and special events.
Essential Functions
- Perform plumbing work, which includes troubleshooting, installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and monitoring and maintain campus lift stations.
- Perform general carpentry duties which includes, painting, carpet laying, roofing, and pouring concrete as assigned.
- Perform general electrical work, which includes troubleshooting, installation and maintaining systems as assigned.
- Operate and repair campus equipment, including boilers, water chillers, refrigeration, water filters, softeners, pumps, air compressors.
- Perform preventive maintenance, service and repairs to vehicles and equipment.
- Perform welding and torch cutting as assigned.
- Require ability to use a fork truck and to manually lift at least 50lbs.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic knowledge of lock and commercial door hardware maintenance and repairs preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred
- Electrical and Mechanical experience is preferred
- Must work well with others
- Must successfully complete a background check
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Salary & Benefits
- Salary $43,000 - $45,000 based on experience
- Full benefits including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plan and benefits, and paid time off
