INA, Ill. (February 22, 2023) - Rend Lake College will offer a weekend course for drone enthusiasts who want to turn their hobby into a profitable business. The course will help participants prepare for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aeronautical Knowledge Test, commonly known as the FAA Part 107, which is a legal requirement for commercial drone pilots in the United States.
Drones are increasingly being used in various industries such as agriculture, real estate, architecture, insurance, construction, telecommunications, oil & gas, conservation & research, and many more. Incorporating drones into one's business can be a game-changer. However, before being legally permitted to fly drones commercially, it is necessary to pass the FAA Part 107 test.
The 16-hour weekend course offered by RLC will provide participants with comprehensive training on application regulations, airspace classification, weather sources and effects, emergency procedures, crew resource management, radio communications, aeronautical decision-making, airport operations, maintenance & preflight instructions, night-time operation, and the next steps for testing and licensing. The course is designed not only for those who want to fly drones commercially, but also for hobbyists who want to fly safely.
The course will be held on March 11 and 12, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rend Lake College Ina Campus - Advanced Technology Center Room 177, located at 468 N Ken Gray Parkway, Ina, IL, 62846. The cost of the course is $25.
