Acclaimed poet Allison Joseph shares work with RLC students

Award-winning poet Allison Joseph read a selection of poems for students, staff and members of the public Thursday at Rend Lake College.

Joseph is currently the director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She has published a multitude of books and chapbooks, her most recent being “Confessions of a Barefaced Woman,” which was chosen as the First Place Winner in the poetry category of the 2019 Feathered Quill Book Awards.

Along with sharing some of her work, Joseph answered questions from the audience and signed copies of her books following the reading. The event was in conjunction with RLC’s Black History Month programming, which celebrates the culture and contributions of the African-American community.

Joseph2Joseph followed her reading with a book signing for Rend Lake College students, staff and members of the public. Around 30 people were in attendance.
