"The Math and Sciences Division at Rend Lake College was pleased to host the Regional WYSE event in cooperation with the University of Illinois," said Andrea Banach, Dean of Math and Sciences at RLC. "The WYSE Academic Challenge allows district high school students an opportunity to compete against their peers by completing two exams from a possibility of seven different subjects - biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, math and physics.

"This year’s WYSE Academic Challenge included a mini-design contest during the lunch break where students competed in groups of three to design a rocket, egg vehicle, air-fueled vehicle or marshmallow structure. Planning has already begun for next year’s event," added Banach.

Below are the regional results, followed by team photos. An asterisk in the results indicates advancement to the WYSE Sectional, March 12, at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Contact John Brajkovich at 618-453-7744 for questions regarding the sectional at SIUC. The Illinois State Finals will be held at the I-Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign - 300 Division on Monday, April 7; 700 Division on Tuesday, April 8; and 1500 Division on Wednesday, April 9.
