MT. VERNON, Ill (Oct. 16, 2026) — RL Confections is celebrating National Chocolate Day and Halloween with a full week of chocolate fun, and the public is invited to join in.
From Monday, Oct. 26, through Wednesday, Oct. 28, RL Confections will host special events at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mount Vernon. Guests can enjoy facility tours, a guided tasting session, chocolate trivia, handcrafted treats and a chance to win a future holiday favorite.
The celebration begins Monday, Oct. 26, with Facility Tours. Guests are invited to take a free 30-minute tour of the RL Confections facility, complete with an exclusive chocolate sample and demonstration. Advance registration is required to attend the tour.
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, visitors can take part in a free Tasting Session designed to engage every chocolate lover’s sweet tooth. The guided tasting will include chocolate samples, with crackers and water provided. Advance registration is required to attend the tour.
The week continues Wednesday, Oct. 28, with Chocolate Trivia. Guests may stop in anytime during the day to draw a chocolate or Halloween trivia question. Those who answer correctly will receive one free chocolate sample. Limit one piece per person.
In addition to the special events, any purchase made during the week will enter shoppers into a drawing for a chance to win a free 2026 Christmas Collection Box. Halloween and fall products will also be available for purchase, along with RL Confections’ regular menu items.
For this week only, RL Confections will offer extended hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. RL Confections is located inside the Southern Illinois Manufacturing Academy at the Rend Lake College MarketPlace in Mount Vernon.
Walk-ins are welcome to shop handcrafted chocolate anytime during operating hours. Guests should note that shoppers who visit during scheduled event times may need to wait until the event has concluded before shopping.
