INA, Ill. (October 29, 2024)—On Friday, October 18, Rend Lake College held a CNA Conference sponsored by RLC, Certified Nursing Assistance Educator Association and the Illinois Nurse Assistant/Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program at SIUC.
The conference saw an attendance of around 50 participants, including high school students.
Participants had the opportunity to attend the networking vendor fair at the start of the day, followed by keynote speakers from Telligen QI Connect, Carolyn Dutton and Kara Rapien, who presented on Quality.
The CNA Conference held three breakout sessions for the attendees: Reminiscence Therapy with Beth Young, Education Coordinator Southern Regions, Proper Body Mechanics for Transferring a Patient with the Franklin County Hospital Physical Therapy Department and Dementia Live with Southern Illinois Hospice.
To conclude the conference, Sarah Hopfinger, RLC Nursing Instructor and CNA Program Coordinator , presented Christina Bruner from Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center with the CNA of the Year Award.
"Christina has spent the last 7 years as a valuable member of our team," says Angela Thorson, LNHA at Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. " She is very reliable and more than willing to pick up shifts so her residents are cared for. She doesn't just show up for work, she shows out! Her charge nurses appreciate her attention to detail, and her residents will tell you how much she cares if asked."
