Fall Concert to feature “Sounds of the Season” at RLC

November 9, 2015

INA, Ill. (Nov. 9, 2015) - Join the Rend Lake College Community Orchestra, Concert Band, and Concert Choir in celebrating the “Sounds of the Season” at the 2015 Fall Concert. The free event will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the RLC Theatre.

Led by Sara Alstat, RLC Music Associate Professor, and Joseph Ryker, RLC’s new Band and Orchestra Director, students and community members will perform a number of challenging pieces that focus on the fall and winter season. Some of these pieces include Betelehemu; Veni, Veni Emanuel; Gaudeamus Hodie; Gaudete; African Noel; Autumn; Blow, Winds of Fall; The Snow Begins to Fall; and Gospel Magnificat.

“This semester’s Concert Choir is one of the most talented groups I have had the pleasure of directing since I started working at RLC 10 years ago,” said Alstat. “The musical selections are some of the most difficult pieces we’ve ever worked with and I’m excited for the community to experience this musical journey through the season.”

The Fall Concert opens the 2015-16 season for the RLC Music Program. For more information about the event, contact Alstat at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1817, or alstats@rlc.edu.
