Have you been asking yourself if going to college is the right move?
It comes with a cost. There is no question about it. And if education hasn’t been your strong suit in the past, it can look like a daunting financial risk. But Rend Lake College allows students to dip their toes into higher education without demanding a huge investment of time or money. And with the current pandemic, big life decisions can be a little bit more difficult to make. But RLC students have the academic flexibility to go at their own pace when setting out on their path to future success.
Maybe you are a high school graduate unsure of what your next step is
college or career? RLC can be a steppingstone. It gives you a little more time to figure out what you would like to pursue in life. You can take on a variety of classes to help you discover your passion. But the real benefit is the cost. About 80% of students in the United States end up changing their major at least once, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. RLC charges a fraction of what four-year institutions do for tuition and fees. So, any indecision or reassessment of your goals doesn’t have to cut into your pocketbook.
Maybe you already have a job but are looking for a new path. Don’t think you have to sacrifice your paycheck to further your education. You can keep working while earning your degree. In fact, it’s a common theme among RLC students. Last year, around 60% of students were enrolled part-time. Compared to enrollment at four-year institutions, only around 25% of students attend part-time, according to the NCES. But we’re not here to rush you through an education. We’re here to help find the approach that works best for you.
Maybe you have a busy schedule? RLC offers night classes, online classes and hybrid classes. Maybe you only have time for one or two classes a semester as opposed to a full course load. That degree or certificate will still be there for you when you earn it, whether it takes two semesters or ten. And with more than 100 degree or certificate options out there, there is something for just about anyone. Some certificates and trades can have you out in the workforce in about one semester. Other programs put you on a path to earn a bachelor’s or a master’s or a doctoral degree depending on your ambitions.
We’re here to help support those ambitions. And you’ll have the academic flexibility to manage your goals along the way. Want to give it a try? Find out how RLC can work around your schedule. Learn more at rlc.edu.
