Gene Haas Foundation donates $5,000 to help RLC machining students

INA, Ill. (Oct. 1, 2019) - The Rend Lake College Machining Program received another generous gift when the Gene Haas Foundation (GHF), a part of Haas Automation, Inc., presented the program with $5,000 to be used for student scholarships, student equipment or both.

“The Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship has the potential to assist up to five students over the next couple of semesters with tuition, fees, books, and tools. The machining industry is an in demand occupation with many local opportunities in Rend Lake College district,” explained RLC Dean of Applied Science and Technology Gabriele Farner.

“Students can make a good wage and stay local. More details will be available soon on how to apply for Rend Lake College and Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship. This application process will be open to students enrolling to complete the Basic Machining Certificate, 18 credit hours.”

According to the Foundation’s website, GHF’s primary goal is to build skills in the machining industry by providing scholarships for CNC machine technology students and NIMS credentials.

Haas Automation is the largest machine tool builder in the western world, manufacturing a complete line of CNC vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, CNC lathes, and rotary products.
